NACO Implements the "Targeted Intervention Programme" Under National AIDS Control Programme
National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) implements the "Targeted Intervention Programme" under National AIDS Control Programme. This Programme focuses on primary prevention of HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) with high risk groups namely female sex workers (FSW), Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) and Men who have sex with Men (MSM), and high risk men, namely migrants and truckers.
At present there is no proposal to constitute a Welfare Board to address the concerns of trans-gender people, injectable drug users and those infected with HIV/ AIDS or to amend the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act in this regard.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Shri D. Napolean in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
