LT Gen Kochhar takes Over as Indian Army’s
Signal Officer-in-Chief
Lt Gen SP Kochhar took over as the 23rd Signal Officer-in-Chief of the Army from Lt Gen P Mohapatra, today at Army Headquarters here.
At the helm of the Army’s Corps of Signals, the Arm responsible for engineering the Army’s telecommunications requirements, Lt Gen Kochhar will have a critical role in overseeing the digitization of the Indian Army, as part of transformation. The General Officer in an illustrious career spanning 38 years, has held various technical, logistic and human resource related command and staff appointments including as the Additional Director General of Personnel Services at Army Headquarters, during which he headed the Tri-Services Anomalies Resolution Committee to address anomalies of the 6th Pay Commission.
Eminently qualified, the General Officer holds two M.Phil degrees, is an M.Tech from IIT Delhi and is a fellow of IETE and a member of AIMA, IEEE and CSI besides having undergone several in-service professional courses including the prestigious National Defence College Course and the Army’s Higher Command Course. For his contemporary service and path breaking initiatives, Lt Gen Kochhar has been conferred with the Ati-Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and the Vishisht Seva Medal.
