Environmental Improvement of Sagar Lake
Works on Catchment Area Treatment, Low Cost Sanitation and Floating Fountain Completed
The Ministry of Environment and Forests has sanctioned a project ‘Abatement of Pollution and Environmental Improvement of Sagar Lake (Lakha Banjara Lake)’ at Sagar in Madhya Pradesh in March 2007. The amount sanctioned was Rs. 21.33 crore under the Centrally sponsored scheme of National Lake Conservation Plan on 70:30 cost sharing basis between Government of India and Government of Madhya Pradesh. The State Government has reported an expenditure of Rs. 1.59 crore during the last three years and the financial year 2010-11. Out of the sanctioned components, works on Catchment Area Treatment, Low Cost Sanitation and floating fountain have been completed.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Environment and Forests (independent charge) Shrimati Jayanthi Natarajan in a written reply to a question by Shri Bhoopendra Singh in Lok Sabha today.
