Compensation Paid in Mehrauli Bomb Blast Case

There have been news reports that the next of kin of the victims of the bomb blast that took place at Mehrauli on 27.9.2008 have not been paid compensation announced by the Central Government.

Government of NCT Delhi contacted the next of kin of the three victims of the Bomb Blast namely, Santosh, Istiyak Ansari and Deepu. Upon completion of necessary documentation, cheques of Rs.3 lakh each have been sent to the concerned Bank branches for crediting to the respective accounts as Fixed Deposits for three years under the Central Scheme for Assistance to Victims of Terrorist, Communal and Naxal violence. Interest on the fixed deposit will be credited to their accounts quarterly. Photo-copies of the cheques have also been handed over to the next of kin.

The next of kin were also paid an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 5 lakh each by the Government of NCT Delhi in October 2008.
