Smt. Krishna Tirath gives away national awards on Children’s Day
The Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Krishna Tirath today felicitated Children, NGOs and Institutions on the occasion of Children’s Day. 14th November, the birthday of first Prime Minister late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru is celebrated as Children’s Day every year. Smt. Tirath remembered the love and affection of Pt. Nehru for children. She gave away National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement, 2011, National Award for Child Welfare, 2010 and Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award, 2010 in a function at New Delhi today.
The Minister felicitated 27 children with National Child Award for exceptional achievement and also gave away National Awards for Child Welfare 2010 to two individuals whereas Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award 2010 was given to three individuals from across the country. The awardee children have masterly performance in various fields like academics, sports, drawing, painting etc.
Speaking on the occasion Smt. Tirath said that children have lot of potential to excel in every field of life but they need to be encouraged and motivated. She said that her Ministry is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen various initiatives for the welfare of children. She stated that every child and every woman in need should take benefit of various programs and schemes run by Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The Secretary of Women and Child Development Shri D.K. Sikri announced that in a week’s time the child help line will be operational through mobile also.
