The Election Commission has decided to hold bye-elections
to the Council of States from Assam and Bihar,
to fill up the vacancies occurred due to the death of the sitting member of the
House from Assam, Shri Silvius Condpan on 10th October, 2011,
and resignation of sitting member of the
House from Bihar, Shri Sabir Ali on 15th
November, 2011, whose terms of offices are expiring on 2nd April,
2016 and 9th April, 2014 respectively.
The
bye-elections to fill the aforesaid casual vacancies will be held in accordance
with the following programme :-
