There
are four monuments/archaeological sites in Koppal
area in Karnataka which have been declared protected as of national importance
by the Archaeological Survey of India: (1) Rock Edicts of Asoka on the hillock
known as Gavimath and Palki
Gundu, Koppal; (2) Mahadeva temple, Ittagi; (3)
Ancient Mound, Koppal (4) Prehistoric Site, Hirebenkal.
The
funds spent for their conservation and maintenance during each of the last
three years and the current year are as under:-
