Secretary in the
Department of Disability Affairs Ms. Stuti N. Kacker and CMD, NHFDC, Shri Harsh Bhal
today signed an MOU for the implementation of the Schemes of National
Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC) in the year 2013-14 here
today. Under this MOU, NHFDC shall release an amount of Rs. 70 crores to 12,840 Persons
With Disabilities (PwDs)
during the financial year 2013-14. Department of Disability Affairs has agreed
to provide an equity support of Rs. 25 crores to
NHFDC to achieve the targets. During 2013-14 the NHFDC would undertake skill
development of 860 PwDs .The NHFDC has also agreed during the MOU
negotiating meeting with Department of Public enterprises and Department of
Disability Affairs to undertake Corporate social Responsibility in the year
2013-14. The Corporation will incur an expenditure of Rs. 8 lac
for providing material support to organizations having exemplary contribution
for welfare of PwDs. The summary of financial and

During the year 2010-11, 2011-12 the NHFDC’s performance
was rated Very Good & Excellent respectively under the MOU. During 2012-13 NHFDC is set to achieve excellent
performance under the MOU evaluation system.
The Public Enterprise Survey in its latest Annual
Report on the performance of Central Public Sector Enterprises has said that
the profitability of NHFDC increased during 2010-11 & 2011-12 due to better
management of funds and increase in loan income consequent to increase in
disbursement of loan. The Public enterprise survey is laid in Parliament every
year.
The main aim of National Handicapped Finance &
Development Corporation (www.nhfdc.nic.in
) is the disbursement of the loan for supporting self employment ventures of
the disabled persons in the country. In addition, it provides educational loans
to PwDs for pursuing professional and technical
education leading to Vocational Rehabilitation/self-employment. The Corporation
also provides grants for upgradation of
entrepreneurial skills of PwDs.
The Corporation is also implementing two
scholarship schemes for 1500 PwD students every year
for pursuing technical and professional course
