Status of progress of work on GQ, East-West
and North-South Corridor

The Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Shri K.H. Muniyappa in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today said that out of a total length of 5,846 kms four-laning has been completed for 5,698 kms of Golden Quadrilateral (GQ). He also informed that out of total length of 7,142 kms of North-South and East-West corridors, four-laning has been completed for 2,838 kms. There have been some delays in the completion of some contracts under GQ due to poor performance of contractors. The delay in the North-South and East-West Corridor is attributable to problems associated with land acquisition, delay in shifting of utilities, delay in obtaining clearances for cutting of trees, and adverse law and order problems in some States, Shri Muniyappa added in his reply.
