Indian Panorama Jury Meets Media at 45th IFFI
26 of 181 Feature Films and 15 of Over 100 Non-Feature Films Selected: Jury
Indian Panorama Jury met Media here today. Addressing the press conference, ShriA.K. Bir, Chairman Feature Films made the opening statement about the panorama selection process. He said that jury members had very absorbing and engaging discussions. Films are either uprooted from the reality or are imprisoned in the reality but Jury’s endeavor has been to select the films free from reality exploring the truth beyond. The merit of the film based on three basic criteria of creative virtue, emotive dynamics and nature of authenticity was onmind to ensure the exploration of truth and simplicity.
Responding to the media query about the absence of Telugu films in Panorama he said, cinema as an art has no language barriers and is a creative representation of reality. Cinema as a medium of expression empowers common man with sensibility through entertainment, he further added.
ShriVivek Mohan, member of Indian Panorama jury (Non Feature) expressed that the experience of being a jury member was like rediscovering India. He appreciated the work contributed by Cinema of the North-East.
The jury of Indian Panorama selected26 after viewing 181 feature films and 15 after seeing 100 non-feature films.
Other jury members present were AbhiramBhadkamkar, BabuKambrath, OinamDoren, R. Buvana, ShilaDatta and Vivek Mohan. The jury of Feature Films includes A.K. Bir (Chairman), SatarupaSanyal, VinodGanatra, Ganga RajuGunnam, UtpalBorpujari, OinamGautam Singh, GautamanBhaskaran and Sameer Hanchate.
The Chairman of Non-Feature Film section Mike Pandey could not make to the occasion.
