The first phase of polling for General Election to the Lok Sabha will be held on 20th April, 2004. The polling will be held in 16 States/Union Territories involving 140 parliamentary constituencies across the country. Election to the two PCs in Tripura will be held on 22nd April, 2004. 177614966 electors will exercise their right of franchise. The state-wise details of the number of polling stations, contesting candidates, etc. are given below.
The Commission appeals to all voters to participate in large numbers to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
