Clearance procedures for plan schemes and projects have been put on a
FAST TRACK by Ministry of Finance during 2005-06. 123 proposals were appraised and investment/expenditure of Rs.1,74,436 cr has been recommended
during the period from April 2005-March, 2006 through 39 sittings of Public Investment Board(PIB), 53
sittings of the Expenditure Finance Committee(EFC) and 11
sittings of the Committee on Non-Plan Expenditure (CNE). The total
investment/expenditure recommended during 2004-05 was Rs.1,18,112 cr. PIB, EFC and CNE function as the highest official
level appraisal forum for investment decisions with senior level representation
from Planning Commission, sponsoring Ministries, Ministries of Environment
& Forests, Programme Implementation and Department of Economic Affairs and
are chaired by Finance Secretary/Secretary(Expenditure), Ministry of
Finance.
