Rail Coach Factory
The Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala has manufactured 69 coaches of Linke Hoffman Busch (LHB) German Design, which have been put into service on the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express rake since December 15, 2003.
Such coaches of self-generating design are under manufacture.
The production of LHB design coaches follows contracts with M/s LHB for import of 24 stainless steel bodied coaches with transfer of technology for design, manufacture and maintenance of similar types of coaches indigenously.
The other innovations of the RCF include design and manufacture of AC 3-tier coaches, fitment of roof mounted AC package units, development, manufacture of IR20 and self-propelled Accident Relief Train and high capacity parcel vans.
The RCF has exported 72 metre gauge coaches to Vietnam National Railways, so far.
Established in 1986 at a total cost of Rs. 360 crores, the RCF rolled out the first coach in 1988. It has an installed capacity of 1000 fully furnished coaches annually. It is now equipped to turn out state-of-the –art coaching vehicle.
