Army appointment : Lt Gen Mohan Pande to be Director General Military Operations
Lt Gen Mohan Pande is to take over the coveted post of Director General Military Operations of the Indian Army. He assumes charge on 01 July 2006.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Lieutenant General Mohan Pande was commissioned into the Mahar Regiment in 1968. During his illustrious career, the General Officer has held varied command and instructional assignments to include Brigade Major of a Brigade, Colonel General Staff of a Mountain Division and Additional Director General Operational Logistics at Army Headquarters. He has had instructional tenures at the National Defence Academy, Pune, Officers Training Academy, Chennai and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. First as Brigadier General Staff and later as Chief of Staff at Headquarters Army Training Command, the General Officer has been closely associated with the conceptualization and development of various doctrinal issues.
A graduate of National Defence College, Lieutenant General Mohan Pande, commanded the Tiger Division during Op PARAKRAM and was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for his outstanding professional contribution. He was Chief of Staff, Headquarters Army Training Command prior to being posted as Director General Military Operations.
Lt Gen Pande replaces Lt Gen Madan Gopal, who retires after an illustrious career of 39 years during which he held various prestigious appointments to include DG Infantry at the Army HQ.
