Dengue – Status Report

A total number of 3803 cases and 52 deaths have been reported from India as a whole including Delhi as on 10.10.2006 upto 12.30 hrs.

Situation report of Dengue in Delhi (upto 10.10.2006, 12.30 hrs.)

A total number of 1029 cases and 20 deaths have been reported from Delhi, NCR and other states. Out of these, 651 cases have been reported from Delhi, while 378 cases from the NCR and other states.

The 378 cases from outside Delhi includes 100 cases from Haryana, 205 cases from Uttar Pradesh, 12 cases from Rajasthan and 61 from others.

Situation report of Dengue in other states (upto 10.10.2006, 12.30 hrs)

Apart from Delhi, upto 10.10.2006, the maximum number of dengue cases have been reported from Kerala (713), followed by Gujarat (424), Rajasthan (328), West Bengal (314), Tamil Nadu (368), Maharashtra (226) and Uttar Pradesh (259). Cases have also been reported from Haryana (73), Karnataka (60) and Andhra Pradesh (9).

Action taken by Government of India

  • A Control Room has been established w.e.f. 8.10.2006 at the Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, 22, Sham Nath Marg, Delhi-110 054 (Telephone No. 23972884) for information dissemination on Dengue. The Control Room is functioning from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • NVBDCP is monitoring the situation continuously and issuing technical guidance and logistics support to states.
  • NVBDCP is carrying out vector surveillance in Delhi
  • IEC activities have been scaled up for community sensitization and mobilization.
  • Inter-sectoral meetings with different Departments and hospitals are being held.
  • All available information has been posted on the Programme’s website www.namp.gov.in.
