Ministry of Labour & Employment Organises “Shram Samvad” District-Level Capacity Building and Awareness Programmes on Labour Codes in Chandigarh, Jaipur and Thane
As part of its continued efforts towards stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and facilitating effective implementation of labour reforms, the Ministry of Labour & Employment, in collaboration with leading industry chambers, organised the “Shram Samvad” District-Level Capacity Building and Awareness Programmes on Labour Codes on 29th September 2026 across multiple key locations, including Chandigarh, Jaipur (Rajasthan), and Thane (Maharashtra).
The programmes aimed to build awareness among employers, industry representatives, HR professionals, legal experts, finance specialists, and other key stakeholders about the Labour Codes, which came into force on 21 November 2025, and the Central Rules, notified on 08 May 2026. The initiatives also highlighted key provisions, statutory obligations, compliance requirements, and major social security initiatives of the Government of India, namely the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) and the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Scheme.
In Chandigarh, Shri Ajoy Sharma, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment led the event alongside senior officials from ESIC, EPFO, and CLC(C), with Shri Pradhuman Singh, Director (Industries), UT of Chandigarh and Shri Akash Mittal, Assistant Labour Commissioner, UT of Chandigarh. The event featured technical sessions delivered by Shri Ajoy Sharma providing an overview of the Labour Codes, their objectives and the major reforms introduced through the new legislative framework. In various sessions, Ministry officials focused on the key compliance requirements for employers under the Labour Codes and provided practical guidance on statutory obligations and compliance responsibilities.


The event in Jaipur, organised in collaboration with PHDCCI, brought together more than 60 participants. Following a keynote address by Shri Ashutosh A.T. Pednekar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment and an inaugural address by Shri Ashish Wig, Chair, HR & IR Committee, PHDCCI, technical sessions were conducted by senior officials from the Ministry. This was followed by an interactive Q&A with active participation from all stakeholders.


In Thane, the programme featured an inaugural address by Shri BhalchandraSinh Rao Rane, Chairman, Federation of Industries of India (FII), a welcome address by Shri Bhaskar Tamrakar, CII Convener, MSME & Startup Panel, Thane Zonal Council. The keynote address was delivered by Shri SV Ramana, Director, Ministry of Labour & Employment. The event featured several technical sessions centred around various labour reforms, and concluded with an interactive Q&A session.
