India strikes Gold in women’s doubles Badminton
India’s P. C. Thulasi and Sikki Reddy beat the Canadian duo of Mary Alexandra Bruce and Man Shan Michelle Li in two straight sets to claim the Gold in the women’s doubles Badminton finals. At the Chattrapati Shivaji Sports Complex, the Indian duo beat the Canadian duo 21-18, 21-8.
The first set was closely fought with the lead changing hands at regular intervals however, the Indian duo rallied in the closing stages of the first set to win the first set 21-18. The second set though proved to be a cake walk for the Indian duo, who wrested an early lead by taking 7 continuous points. The Indian duo closed the first set 21-8 to win the Gold for the country. Malaysia picked up the Bronze medal beating New Zealand.
