In a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday he said, at the time of closure of above
mines in 2001, 3580 employees were employed whose services were terminated. Of
the total 3580 employees, 3488 were workers and staff. Remaining 92 employees
were in officer cadres.
The Minister said, National
Productivity Training Centre under Ministry of Labour
has organized training courses for
workers in alternative trades, together with payment of stipend at KGF. The infrastructure like building etc. were provided by Bharat Gold Mines Limited for the purpose. As per information available about 650 workers
were provided such training.
