Smt. Ambika Soni Confers global Punjabi society media awards to eminent Journalists
The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Smt Ambika Soni has said that the spirit of Punjabiyat had enabled the spread of Punjabi Culture and Punjabi language globally. It also spread the rich heritage of Indian culture across several countries thereby becoming a vehicle of cultural linkage between people. The Minister stated this while delivering her address at the Global Punjabi Society Media Awards ceremony here today.

In the course of her address, Smt Soni said culture provided the platform for integrating different cross sections of society. The spirit of Punjabiyat strengthened the bonds of oneness and cultivated the spirit of brotherhood. She also reiterated the role of culture and tradition as an integral part of India’s identity within the comity of nations.

The Minister conferred the Lifetime Achievement Awards to Shri H.K. Dua, Former Editor of Tribune, Shri K Narendra, Editor, Daily Pratap alongwith other dignitaries. The Minister also presented Media awards to prominent Media persons such as Shri Vijay Chopra, Managing Director, Punjab Kesari, Shri Vikram Chandra, CEO, NDTV Convergence, Shri Pankaj Vohra, Political Editor, Hindustan Times, Shri G.S. Virk, Editor, Des Pardes Weekly UK, Shri Tarun Tejpal, Group Editor, Telelka, Shri Chetan Bhagat, Novelist, Ms Sonal Kalra, Editor, HT City, Shri Ranjit Sing, Editor, Palco News Services, Ms Bahar Dutt, Environment Editor, CNN-IBN. The Lifetime Achievement Award was also presented to eminent journalist Shri Khushwant Singh.
