Approval for Rehabilitation and Upgradation to two-lane with paved shoulders of Multai-Seoni Section of NH-69A and Narsinghpur-Amrawada-Saoner section of NH-26B in the States of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra
The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the implementation of the project for Rehabilitation and Upgradation to two-lane with paved shoulders of Multai-Seoni Section of NH-69A and Narsinghpur-Amrawada-Saoner section of NH-26B in the States of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs.1412.27 crore. The project will be implemented by National Highways Authority of India and the target is to complete the work by June, 2013.

The project aims to develop newly declared National Highway to the Indian Roads Congress standards. With the implementation of the project, road user cost will reduce and smooth and safe flow of traffic can be ensured. Besides fostering the socio-economic development of the States, it will also decongest Lakhanadon-Nagpur section of NH-7 of North-South Corridor, which passes along the periphery of Pench Sanctuary. Implementation of the project will provide easy connectivity between NH-69 and NH-26 with NH-7.

BACKGROUND:

The National Highway 69-A joining Multai-Seoni and NH-26B joining Narsinghpur-Amarawada-Saoner are National Highways declared after approval of Ministry of Finance and Planning Commission. The existing roads are a major safety hazard due to many sub-standard curves, varying widths of road and level crossings leading to poor utilization of road network. The whole project will open up the south Central Madhya Pradesh and develop this region in terms of better connectivity to the national grid.
