Sports Minister Inaugurates Full Bore Shooting Range

 Dr. M. S Gill, Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports inaugurated today the  newly constructed Full Bore Shooting Range at CRPF Campus, Kadarpur, Haryana, in the presence of Senior Officers of CRPF, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Ministry of Urban Development .

The Full Bore Shooting Range is constructed at a cost of Rs. 28 crore, as a new venue for holding the prestigious Queen Matches during Commonwealth Games 2010.  The range is located at the foothill of Aravali Hill Range, within the safe campus of CRPF at Kadarpur, Gurgaon, Haryana. The shooting Range with natural barrier of Aravali Hills on one side and at suitable orientation, has been designed as ‘No-Danger-Area’ range with well designed side Baffle walls and End Butt Wall in RCC.  Movable Type electronic targets system will be used for the first time for Full Bore shooting competition for 300 yards, 300 meters, 500 yards, 600 yards, 900 yards and 1000 yards during Commonwealth Games 2010, Delhi.

 

While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gill suggested for legacy use starting of an annual Bigbore shooting competition  among the Central Para-Military Forces, State Police Forces and the Army for proper utilization of magnificent range developed by the Government.    

The first of its kind shooting range will have legacy use for imparting training to Central Police Organisation and other national athletes.  In addition, this permanent facility of international standards will provide venue for hosting National and International shooting competition events.  This stadium is supported with a Facility Block with covered area of 2280 Sqm with seating capacity of 324.

 

            The Project has been funded by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India.  The Range has been constructed by Central Public Works Department, the premier construction Agency of Government of India, under Ministry of Urban Development & poverty Alleviation.

 

 

HIGHLIGHTS OF SPORTS FACILITIES IN RANGE

 

 

Ø       Designed as ‘No-Danger-Area’ Shooting Range

Ø       Designed with Single Firing Point  located in front of Spectator’s seating Area in the Facility Block.

Ø       Designed with Side Baffle Walls of various heights and widths to trap all bullets fired within the cone of fire.

Ø       945 m (1000+ 34 yard) in length and 68 metre in width with top grassed surface.

Ø       20 nos. target positions at each location within 3.4 metre c/c spacing.

Ø       CC Platforms for positioning electronic targets.

Ø       Arrangements for adjustable support system with protection against damage to target system.

Ø       Individual monitors for each target.

Ø       Marker’s Gallery near End Butt wall for legacy use for 300 meter firing practice and events.

Ø       Separate and dedicated approach to Shooting Range.

Ø       Baffle walls of various heights & widths in RCC.

Ø       13 M high, 76 metre wide End Butt wall in RCC.

Ø       RCC cross walls at required locations to prevent ricochets and stopping bullets.

Ø       Chain link fencing on both sides of the Range along its full length.
