Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award Announced

            The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award  for the year 2009 to recognize the achievements of persons in the fields of Adventure.

            The following four persons have been selected for the Adventure Awards for the

            year 2009:-

1.      HC Kamlesh Kumar Boiunthiyal                    -           Land Adventure

2.      Wg. Com. Jai Kishan                                      -           Air  Adventure

3.      Shri Sufyan Sheikh                                         -           Water Adventure

4.      Ms. Chandraprabha Aitwal                             -           Life Time Achievement

            Shri Sufyan Shaik is the youngest person in the world to swim 9 seas around the world at the tender age of 17 years.Now, he is the youngest Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award winner.   Ms. Chandraprabha Aitwal is one of the pioneers of Indian women mountaineers.  At the age of 59 years, she is already on her latest expedition to Mt. Jaonli, in the Himalayas.  Wg. Com. Jai Kishan holds the world record of skydive landing, Mount Everest.  HC Kamlesh Kumar Boiunthiyal is a regular mountaineer since 1994 and has scaled  peaks like Mount Everest, Kanchanjunga, Trishuli etc.

The awardees will receive their awards from Her Excellency the President of India at a specially organized function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on August 29, 2010.
