Union Home Secretary Chairs Tripartite Meeting with ULFA & Assam Govt Representatives; ULFA Demands Discussed
A tripartite meeting involving the representatives of Government of Assam, and ULFA was held under the Chairmanship of Union Home Secretary Sh. R.K.Singh in New Delhi today to discuss demands submitted by ULFA on 05.08.2011 to Union Home Minister in the presence of Chief Minister of Assam.

ULFA delegation was led by Shri Arabinda Rajkhowa, Chairman, ULFA. Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, Sh. N.K.Das, Government of India Representative for Peace Talks Sh. P.C. Haldar, Secretary, Internal Security, Sh. U.K.Bansal, Joint Secretary (North East) Sh. Shambhu Singh, Additional DGP, Assam, Sh. K. Sharma, and state Home Commissioner Sh. Jishnu Barua were also present.

After the preliminary discussion on the demands of ULFA, GoI Representative has been requested to hold meetings with the Chief Secretary, Assam and ULFA leaders on their demands regularly.

Concluding the meeting, Union Home Secretary stated that the steps taken by the ULFA leaders for restoration of peace and normalcy in the area would yield speedier socio-economic development for the people of Assam. Union Home Secretary would review the status of talks with ULFA periodically.
