Scindia Honours Olympic Medal Winner Sita Sahu.
Minister of State (I/C) Independent Charge for Power, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia presented a cheque of Rs. 5 Lakh to Sita Sahu, the winner of two medals at Special Olympics World Summer Games at Athens, Greece held in 2011 in a simple ceremony in New Delhi today. He presented the amount on behalf of NTPC Ltd. She won Bronze Medals in 200 M and 1600 M relay race and secured 4th place in 100 M (female) race.

Sita Sahu, a 15 year old young Olympian and coming from an extremely poor family of the Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, approached Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia for help. She was promised by the Madhya Pradesh government an award of Rs one lakh, but still waiting for the money from the state government.

Sita Sahu was found selling gol gappe ( Pani Puri) along with her parents to support herself and her family. This news was not only shocking to the people of Madhya Pradesh, but to the people of the whole nation.

The Minister had declared a reward of Rs. 5 lakh to Sita Sahu for her grand achievement and promised improvement in her one room house and strengthening her father’s handcart under the Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme of NTPC.
